Since this fix requires drivers and products provided by your PC's manufacturer if you are uncertain about how to do this I would suggest consulting with Dell technical support. Then right clicking on it and click Troubleshoot Compatibility from the menu. If you update your video driver or reinstall it. I'm not sure of your video card because that model came with a variety of options. When and if you run it DO NOT turn off or unplug your computer until the update finishes. WARNING if you update your BIOS you must download the file and I think this is the link for your drivers but I suggest using the system detect tool if you are not sure. To get the BIOS update or video driver you can visit the Dell website under the support page. Or to reinstall the video driver in compatibility mode. I have read that a BIOS update is needed to resolve the problem.
So the 2nd display works ok but not the built in one? I'm guessing you had Intel graphics?
